چکیده

Introduction: Enterococci are one of the common organisms isolated from hospitalized patients with urinary tract infections. Guidelines recommend testing enterococcifor susceptibility to high-level gentamicin (HLG) and streptomycin. The present study was planned determine uropathogenic enterococci in a tertiary care hospital. Materials Methods: Prospective observational research carried out at hospital for two years on all urine specimens. Identification antibiotic were performed as per standard methods. All tested high level ((120µg) resistance other recommended antimicrobial agents by Results: A total 320 susceptibility. majority elderly (34.06%) admitted (69.06%). 68.4% HLG resistant. resistant highly erythromycin (96.3%), ciprofloxacin (96.8%) nalidixic acid (97.7%). sensitive significantly (p <0.05) less except acid. Only 20.5% vancomycin. susceptible linezolid. Conclusion: demonstrated prevalence causing UTI our setting. Compared enterococci, more tested. findings highlight need mandatory effective antimicrobials treatment. IMC J Med Sci. 2023; 17(2):008. The prevalence and clonal expansion of high-level gentamicin-resistant enterococci isolated from blood cultures in a Dutch university hospital.

We studied the prevalence and clonality of high-level gentamicin-resistant enterococci (HLGRE) in a Dutch university hospital. Of 238 enterococcal strains isolated from blood cultures between 1991 and 1997, 57 were HLGRE. Genomic analysis of these strains revealed 19 different genotypes, two of which were encountered more frequently [type A (12/57), type B (23/57)]. The spread of these types la...

Prevalence of high-level gentamicin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium in an Iranian hospital

This study was designed to determine the molecular characteristics and antimicrobial resistance of enterococcal strains isolated from patients admitted to an Iranian Hospital. Enterococcal strains were isolated from the burn patients. All strains were screened for genes encoding resistance to aminoglycoside [aac(6')-Ie-aph(2'')-Ia, aph (3'), ant (4')], resistance to vancomycin (vanA, vanB), res...
